TASIKMALAYA (March 19, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Phala Martha Disability Center in Sukabumi, was present in the Regency and City of Tasikmalaya in response to news in various media about the stocks of People With Mental Disorders (ODGJ).
This case was discovered and handled by the Regional Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAID) of Tasikmalaya Regency and the Darul Ihsan Foundation of Tasikmalaya City.
The Head of Phala Martha Center, Cup Santo assigned the Social Work Team to act immediately by conducting emergency responses, assessments, and coordinating with local stakeholder agencies/institutions, to coordinate and synergize in handling the "R" problem so that a solution can be found.
Umar Khaerudin, Social Worker of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the team carried out emergency response services and social advocacy and coordinated with the Regional Government of Tasikmalaya Regency cq. Regional Secretariat of Tasikmalaya Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency Social Office, Health Office, and Tasikmalaya Regency Hospital. An agreement was reached that the handling of "R" needs to be carried out jointly between the local government of Tasikmalaya Regency, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Community/Social Welfare Institution (LKS) so that "R" gets the handling and solution of the problem.
The Ministry of Social Affairs together with the local government of Tasikmalaya Regency visited the Darul Ihsan Foundation of Tasikmalaya City to ensure the current condition of "R".
The arrival of the Ministry of Social Affairs Team and the Tasikmalaya Regency Government was warmly received by H. Maman as Chair and Owner of the Darul Ihsan Foundation for Tasikmalaya City, and Ato Rinanto, Chair of the Tasikmalaya Regency KPAID.
"Let R stay in Darul Ihsan to undergo rehabilitation here with other friends," said H. Maman to the Team.
After being at the Foundation, "R"'s physical condition looked clean, healthy and well-dressed. R still had difficulty communicating. When greeted, R gave a response but the answer was unclear. R instead seemed to be enjoying the tempeh chips.
On the occasion, Ato also explained the chronology of the release and evacuation of "R" ODGJ victim of stocks from "R"'s house in Cikalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency to the Darul Ihsan Foundation, Tasikmalaya City.
"R" who has mental health problems and intellectual retardation so that with great compulsion, his parents restrained "R" for 7 years. Deprivation is caused by the family's inability to take care of "R".

Maman said Darul Ihsan still really needs support and guidance from the government.
