Ministry of Social Affairs Fulfills the Basic Needs of West Sulawesi Earthquake Evacuees

The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to make efforts to meet the basic needs of the evacuees due to the earthquake in Mamuju and Majene, West Sulawesi. As seen today, Tagana personnel have increased the number of public kitchens in several evacuation locations such as the West Sulawesi Governor office complex and the West Sulawesi Provincial Social Service. In a day, it is estimated that they can cook 6 to 8 thousand packs of rice. The food is then distributed to the evacuees, both at the location and scattered in several small posts.

In addition to adding public kitchens, the Ministry of Social Affairs also added to the establishment of tents for the evacuees. Although currently conditions in Mamuju and Majene are relatively safe, many people still choose to live in evacuee tents. They are worried that at any time there will be aftershocks.

Earlier, on Friday evening, logistical assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, in the form of tents, folding mattresses, clothes and cooking utensils, arrived at Mamuju airport using Hercules Aircraft. The aid is distributed in stages to the community.
