JAKARTA (April 8th 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs directly handed over 1,675 packages of basic food and ready-to-eat food for the people of Tebet and Kemang Districts, South Jakarta who were affected by the spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday afternoon (8/4).

The Ministry of Social Affairs targets the distribution of basic food and ready-to-eat food packages of 200 thousand each to residents in five areas in DKI Jakarta Province in an effort to overcome the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The assistance was handed over directly by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Advisor of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Grace Batubara to each local village head and RT / RW.

"Earlier, we have come to give symbolic assistance to the Head of Village and RW directly. Later, the scheme for the gift will be implemented as well as possible," said Grace while handing over the aid in Kebon Baru Village, Tebet, South Jakarta.

Grace, who is the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, said that the basic food were handed over through the village head because of a government regulation requiring residents to maintain social distancing. So, he urged residents to comply with the government's recommendation.

"So, please follow the directions from the Head of the Village and RW regarding the provision of basic food and boxed rice," Grace explained.

No less than 653 packages of basic basic food were distributed to the Kelurahan Kebon Baru, Tebet and 1,022 packages of basic food for the Bangka Village area, Kemang. The assistance was given symbolically to the local village head, to be further distributed to the registered residents.

"We are trying to be able to provide social assistance, especially for the people of DKI Jakarta with the status of daily workers so that their family's daily needs can be fulfilled, despite the COVID-19 outbreak," said Grace, who is known to have a high social spirit.

At least, today there are 6,000 packages of basic food and ready-to-eat food distributed to five areas of DKI Jakarta, in collaboration with the Social Services Agency Sub-dept (Sudinsos).

Meanwhile, Abdul Fatah, Chairman of RW 5, Bangka Urban Village, Kemang, who received packages of basic food and ready-to-eat food, said he was happy with the assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs to his residents. He also hopes that this global pandemic will end soon.

"Thank you from the Ministry of Social Affairs, for your concern, for the basic food. Hopefully this assistance will continue to flow, until it reaches our citizens. Hopefully this crisis will quickly pass from our country, especially in each sub-district. Aamiin," he said.
