TASIKMALAYA (September 3, 2020) - In order to organize Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI), the Ministry of Social Affairs through the “Handayani” Social Rehabilitation Center for Children in Need of Special Protection (BRSAMPK) Jakarta in collaboration with the Tasikmalaya City Social Service carried out Family Support activities or better known as Family Support. This activity is intended for 13 children in Tasikmalaya who are categorized as Children in Need of Special Protection (AMPK).

The purpose of this activity is to support and develop the potential of children with COVID-19 conditions that are still spreading in Indonesia. Children attend with their parents or guardians and then they are given some materials related to that purpose. In addition, it is important to convey about the best parenting for children. This activity is carried out separately between parents and children.

The activity was officially opened by the Head of the "Handayani" Children's Center, Neneng Heryani, who was welcomed by representatives from the Tasikmalaya City Social Service, namely the Head of Social Rehabilitation, Ningning, and the Head of Potential Empowerment, Muhammad Rifat. "The spirit of children must be continuously supported, especially still at school. Hopefully our arrival here can be useful, especially to support the development of children's potential," said Neneng

Parents are given materials related to the best care for their children and provide education about health, transmission prevention of COVID-19, and prevention of HIV-AIDS. All parents seemed to enjoy the activities and most of them were able to share their problems. Social workers who provide materials and accompany these activities together look for alternative solutions to problems for parents. Finally, all parents were given spiritual healing through religious reflection and motivation.

Meanwhile, children are encouraged to show their confidence and potential through various group dynamic games. Children are invited to recognize their potential through case studies on ideals. In addition, children are given education about preventing the spread of the corona virus. Then, the children wrote down some of their hopes and wishes. They do not feel hopeless and inferior to the problems they face, most of them write to become successful people and continue their education to the highest level.

Furthermore, the "Handayani" Children’s Center will continue to evaluate and supervise in order to monitor and support the development of their potential. The Tasikmalaya City Social Service will also continue the activities that have been provided by the "Handayani" Children's Center so that ATENSI activities can still be sustainable and get maximum results.
