SUMBAWA (November 10, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs is present through the "Paramita"  Children's Center in Mataram, responding quickly to the Impact of the Fire in Sumbawa Regency.

The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Social Rehabilitation Center for Children in Need of Special Protection (BRSAMPK) "Paramita" Mataram as the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation provides Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) and recreational kit assistance in collaboration with UNICEF for child survivors of fire victims in the village Batu Rotok, Batu Lanteh District, Sumbawa Regency.

Based on the results of field data collection, this fire resulted in around 120 houses being burned and 91 heads of families lost their homes.

At least 280 people affected by the fire had to evacuate to a safer place. Of the number of victims affected by the fire, there were 28 children who were in the evacuee camps.

Activities carried out by the "Paramita" Children's Center in Mataram case response team, collecting data on the number of child survivors of fire victims, carrying out Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) activities as part of psychological first aid (initial psychological support). The purpose of this activity is expected to be able to provide a sense of security, tranquility and joy for child survivors of fire victims.

The assistance provided was in the form of a package of stationery for children, recreation kits, personal hygiene kits and children's favorite snacks.

The Head of the "Paramita" Children's Center in Mataram , I Ketut Supena, said that in providing psychosocial support services for children who survived the fire, they had to pay attention to the psychological condition, environment and comfort of the child as well as the potential of the surrounding community, this could be used as the first step in providing community-based services. in the implementation of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program," said I Ketut Supena in giving directions to the team.

On this occasion, the team was accompanied by the West Nusa Tenggara Province Social Office, represented by the Head of Social Rehabilitation and Social Worker Service Unit.

In the implementation of Psychosocial Support Service activities, the team was assisted by the team for handling fire victims, youth leaders, village officials and the TNI-Polri.

With the LDP activity, it is hoped that child survivors of fire victims will understand what happened to themselves, their friends and their environment and can take a positive meaning from each incident. This is important so that they can get through the difficult times after the fire disaster that hit them. In addition, they can also learn the values ​​and what can be done to overcome the problems that occur.
