Ministry of Social Affairs Prepares Social Granaries for Handling Floods in Kalimantan
The Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, along with a number of regional heads in Central Kalimantan discussed disaster mitigation measures to anticipate the peak of the rainy season.
This coordination meeting is a continuation of the Minister of Social's field visit to the refugee camp at Koni Palangkaraya Sports Center and the disaster site in Kampung Baru, Langkai Village, Pahandut District.
In the meeting, each participant explained the condition of area, including determining the coordinates for the establishment of a social granary. Social Minister Risma emphasized that social granaries are a means to help disaster-affected communities to have access to basic needs.
Therefore, Risma hopes that the social granary will not only contain food, but also other necessities, such as generators, fuel, rubber boats, water purifiers, water pumps, and tents.
