DEMAK (February 9, 2021) - Extreme weather accompanied by high rainfall has an impact on the occurrence of disasters in several areas in northern Central Java, Demak Regency is one of them.

As one of the areas with frequent flooding, currently it is felt the most severe, with a height varying from 20 cm to 100 cm, and inundating 6 sub-districts consisting of 34 villages.

In one area in Lengkong Hamlet, Sayung Village, Sayung District, there is a private social institution that handles Persons with Mental Disabilities and former drug addicts "Maunatul Mubarok" with a total of 103 beneficiaries, severely affected, flooded about 100 cm high.

Responding to this condition, the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Margo Laras Pati Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Mental Disabilities (BRSPDM), a center that serves Mental Disabilities, carried out a quick response by providing ATENSI assistance (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) for the orphanage.

ATENSI assistance provided in the form of 103 packages of basic needs, each package manifested in the form of basic necessities plus antiseptic soap, immune booster, personal protective equipment and Psychosocial Support Services intended for the beneficiaries of the orphanage.

KH. Abdul Chalim as the person in charge of PRS Maunatul Mubarok, expressed his gratitude for the attention and assistance given to the orphanage, because the condition of the 100 cm high orphanage being inundated, certainly, made it difficult to meet the needs of its residents. This assistance means a lot to us, he continued.

Margo Laras team understands this condition very well, considering that when the team headed to the orphanage to distribute aid, extra effort was needed by walking through the flood and being connected by raft because the water was rising.

On this occasion, the Head of BRSPDM Margo Laras, Jiwaningsih, said that Margo Laras, located in Pati, had the mandate to carry out a program from the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the form of the Attention Program, one of whose activities could be implemented in community-based social institutions as described above. carried out by Maunatul Mubarok. It was further stated that with the ATENSI assistance, it is hoped to be useful and help reduce the burden a little in meeting the daily needs of the Beneficiaries.

On the same occasion, Margo Laras Social Workers gave motivation to the Beneficiaries and also the staff at the orphanage, so that they can face this disaster patiently, and still have to be enthusiastic.

At the time of giving the motivation, Nining, one of the Beneficiaries expressed his gratitude to Margo Laras for the assistance and was happy with the contents of the assistance.

Hopefully the flood will subside soon, considering the information from the orphanage stated that this year's flood was the worst flood experienced by the orphanage, twice as much as last year's flood, because the orphanage is located in an alcove and gets flooded every year. It is estimated that it will take more than a month to wait until the water recedes completely.
