WEST LOMBOK (February 20, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Paramita" Children's Center in Mataram provides assistance to victims of the flash flood natural disaster in Songkang Hamlet, Labuhan Tereng Village, Sheet District, West Lombok Regency.

The assistance in the form of 96 boxes of ready-to-eat food and 30 packages of children's food was handed over directly to the Head of Songkang Hamlet together with the Regent of West Lombok and the Head of the West Lombok Social Office.

The morning before handing over the aid, the Head of the "Paramita" Children's Center I Ketut Supena and the team conducted an assessment of the needs of flood victims and gave an understanding to children not to play in puddles of water because it is not good for health and dangerous for their safety.

Awaludin as the Head of Hamlet said, "Our village is a village that is subject to flooding almost every year, and now as a result of the collapse of the river embankment that retains rainwater and heavy rains, our hamlet is hit by this disaster again. This is the third time this has happened since 2017."

There are 360 heads of families who are victims of the flood. 80 of them are toddlers, 50 elderly and 16 pregnant women.

There is 1 unit of residents' houses which were heavily damaged as a result of the brunt of the water discharge being too heavy. In addition, public facilities were flooded and there were not even a few reports from residents who said they had lost money due to being swept away by the current.

Ketut hopes that the intensity of the rain will not be heavy anymore so that the water will recede and there will be no greater material losses caused by this disaster.
