Ministry of Social Affairs Provides Assistance to Flood Victims in Wajo Regency

(17 May 2021) - The Ministry of
Social Affairs through the "Wirajaya" Disabilities Center, the
"Pangurangi" Training Center and the "Pangurangi" Resident Center,
assisted flood victims in Pitumpinua District, Wajo Regency. This
aid was handed over to locations affected by the flood, namely, the Wajo
Education Foundation, Benteng Urban Village.
Representing the Ministry of Social Affairs, the
head of Wirajaya Center, Aladin said that this assistance was an effort and the concern of the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Social Rehabilitation
Center for flood-affected communities. Aladin also said that all affected LKS
administrators and service recipients should remain enthusiastic about their
activities amid the current calamities.
According to the Head of "Pangurangi"
Center, Pengalamen Surbakti, quick response from the Centers in handling flood
victims in Wajo Regency is a manifestation of the presence of the state, in
this case the Ministry of Social Affairs helping residents who are victims of
flooding. Surbakti said that this assistance was distributed to 120 families
spread across 3 sub-districts in Pitumpinua District.
"Pangurangi" Training Center provided
40 packages of basic food assistance for 40 families affected by flooding in
Bulete Village, Pitumpinua District. "Wirajaya" Rehabilitation Center
handed over 40 basic food packages for 40 families in Benteng Village and 40
basic food packages for Tobaraka Village which were handed over by the Head of Resident
Center "Pangurangi"

Resident Center, Nur Alam, conveyed that the Ministry of Social Affairs has
empathy for the flood disaster that occurred in Wajo Regency and hopes that the
assistance provided can benefit the flood victims in Wajo Regency.
The Head of Social Rehabilitation, Protection
and Security at the Wajo Regency Social Service, Warmansyah, said that the high
rainfall in the last few days in Pitumpinua District has caused rivers to
overflow and flood rice fields and residential areas in Pitumpinua District.
