Ministry of Social Affairs Provides ATENSI Program for Flood Victims in NTT
ALOR (15 April 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the "Mulya Jaya" Work Center in Jakarta continues to
provide attention through direct assistance for flood victims in the province
of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This is following the direction of the Minister of
Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, so that all Balai Besar / Balai / Loka (Center)
within the Ministry of Social Affairs provide comprehensive services when and
after a disaster occurs.
Since 12 April, Training
Center "Mulya Jaya" deployed a Psychosocial Support Service (LDP)
team in Waisaka Village, Alor Timur Laut District, Alor Regency, NTT. Together
with the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for the Persons with Social
Deviance Issues and Trafficking Victims (Dit. RSTS and KPO), the Center "Mulya
Jaya" conducted an assessment of 70 people who fled at the Yakobus Church
Command Post. This assessment is carried out to determine the needs of victims
while in the evacuation. Not only conducting assessments, but the LDP team also
provided psychosocial support during their time in refugee camps for children.
The activities provided
were in the form of inviting children to play through games, music therapy, and
also quizzes with prizes for school equipment. The children affected by the
floods looked so happy and enjoyed the games they were participating in.
"I am happy to get
school equipment, thank you, sir", said one of the children while holding
his gift.
Director of RSTS and KPO,
Waskito Budi Kusumo, and Head of the Sub-Directorate for Persons with Social
Deviance Issues and HIV / AIDS, Cecep Sutriatman also provided this
psychosocial support which lasted from April 12 to April 15, 2021.
"This is a form of
the Ministry of Social's commitment to providing disaster response services for
victims. From the first day, we have coordinated with the Alor Regency Social
Service, building a collaborative network so that synergy in the field can run
well", said Budi.
The Head of the Social
Rehabilitation Section of the "Mulya Jaya" Center, Edy Santoso and
the Social Counselor Officer, Bambang Suwignyo, explained that apart from
providing LDP, the victims also received ATENSI assistance in the form of
fulfilling basic needs.
