Ministry of Social Affairs Provides Psychosocial Support Services for Flood Victims in Tanah Bumbu

BUMBU (15 May 2021) - The Ministry of
Social Affairs through “Budi Luhur” Center of Banjarbaru implemented Social
Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) in the form of Psychosocial Support Services
(LDP) for flood victims in Sinar Bulan Village, Satui District, Tanah Bumbu
Regency, South Kalimantan.
The floods that have occurred since Thursday
coincided with Eid al-Fitr (13/5) have drowned houses and agricultural land.
The flood that hit Sinar Bulan Village made 52 heads of families (KK)
consisting of 185 people forced to evacuate and celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the
refugee camps. Currently, residents whose houses are flooded occupy SMPN 4
Satui as a temporary shelter.
Head of “Budi Luhur” Banjarbaru Center, Herry
Pawoko, explained that Budi Luhur has deployed an LDP Team of 6 people
consisting of Social Counselors and Social Workers. The main focus of this LDP
activity is aimed at children who are victims of the floods, where they should
have felt joy during the Eid al-Fitr celebration, but with this flood disaster
they were forced to live in evacuation places.
The objectives of the LDP include conducting
trauma healing in the form of self-confidence building, sharing experiences,
psychosocial support aimed at reducing trauma and restoring the spirit of life
to return to normal activities for flood victims, especially children.
"What we are doing is eliminating the trauma of the children due to the
floods yesterday, hopefully with a little help from us we can entertain the
children here," Herry explained.
In addition to providing LDP, Budi Luhur also
assisted to flood victims in the form of food ingredients consisting
of 200 kg of rice, 50 boxes of instant noodles, 6 racks of chicken eggs, 50
boxes of mineral water, food for children, masks, and hand sanitizers.
