JAKARTA (July 22, 2020) - Juliari P. Batubara received a Charter of Appreciation for "Commitment in the Implementation of Child Protection and Reporting on Achievements Based on System Information, Evaluation and Reporting (SIMEP)" in Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Award 2020 event at the REDTOP Hotel & Convention Center Jakarta.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs, I thankfull for the 2020 KPAI Award. This is proof of the Ministry of Social's appreciation and commitment that child protection is not something we do half-heartedly," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The Minister of Social Affairs also said that all child protection-oriented programs at the Ministry of Social Affairs received great attention. "Our commitment, policies and programs as budgeting will be maximized in the context of child protection. Because children are the future of our nation," said Juliari.

The event was also attended by the CoordinatingMinisterfor Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy. In his speech, Muhadjir explained the importance of child protection. Indonesia future is in the hand of 30.1% of the population or 79.55 million children.

"In children there is a black box that we don't know the contentsbecause there are complex situations that will determine it," said Muhadjir. Instilling national values and solidarity from an early age so that they are able to adapt and will provide direction for Indonesian progress.

Furthermore, the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection(KPPPA), I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati said that the results of the National Survey on Children and Adolescents, 2 from 3 children aged 13-17 years had violence experienced.

"Data from the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (SIMFONI-PPA) in January-June showed that there were 3928 cases of sexual, physical and emotional violence with 55% cases of sexual violence," said Bintang.

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in commemoration of National Children's Day 2020 held the "KPAI Award 2020" which was given to Ministries/Institutions, provincial/district/city governments, health professional organizations, law enforcement institutions, teachers who are responsive to protection children, Regional Child Protection Commission(KPAD), inspiring children and the Children's Forum.

The Chairman of KPAI, Susanto in his speech hoped that the innovations of various parties in child protection efforts could further enhance efforts to protect children. "KPAI is trying to be adaptive to technology and one of them is by utilizing SIMEP. The indicators are policies, budgeting, case handling support and implementation of the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (SPPA)."

The recipients of the 2020 KPAI Award, apart from the Ministry of Social Affairs, are theMinistry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Religion for their commitment as state administrators for the best interests of children, being innovative in policies and programs related to the implementation of child protection so that they have a positive impact on child protection services in Indonesia.
