NGANJUK (February 16, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Antasena" Magelang Children's Center sent a Psychosocial Support Service Team (LDP) to assist landslide victims in Ngetos Village, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java. The high intensity of rain on Sunday, February 14, 2021, caused a landslide in Selopuro Hamlet which is located on a hillside which has actually been experiencing cracks since 2017.
The landslide that occurred caused 14 people to die and 7 people have not been found. A total of 10 houses were buried under the ground, 20 houses were heavily damaged and dozens of others were lightly damaged. A total of 69 families lost their homes and 186 people were forced to flee, of which there were 32 children. The largest evacuation point was at SDN 3 Ngetos where there were 120 evacuees, the rest evacuate in the homes of relatives/relatives.
The Coordinator of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section (AAS) of the "Antasena" Children's Center, Arif Nurhidayat, who represented the Head of the Center, said that the purpose of the LDP Team's arrival was to provide psychosocial assistance to child evacuees as well as to assess the needs of the evacuees. "We hope that our arrival can reduce psychological impacts such as trauma to landslide victims, especially children, and we will continue to provide this support on an ongoing basis until the recovery stage," he added.
The "Antasena" Magelang Children's Center LDP team together with the Nganjuk District Social Worker Service Unit (Sakti Peksos) conducted an assessment and psychosocial support for evacuees, especially children. The psychosocial support provided includes the use of games, drawing, singing together and group dynamics methods which are intended to prevent children from possible trauma.
"I am very happy with the arrival of the ladies and gentlemen who invited me to play, so I don't get bored staying in the evacuee camp," said Nasrul, one of the landslide victims who is 10 years old and is in 3rd grade.
Ifan Ardilas, Coordinator of the LDP Command Post from the Disaster Preparedness Cadets (TAGANA) of East Java Province, expressed his gratitude for the concern of the "Antasena" Magelang Children's Center. "We are grateful for his concern and hope that the assistance provided can continue as long as the evacuees are still in the evacuee camps," said Ifan.
One of the evacuees, Trisno (62 years old) expressed his hope that he could have a place to live again and his grandson who lost his mother could be happy again.
The LDP "Antasena" Magelang Children's Center team in collaboration with Tagana of East Java Province, Social Service of PPPA of Nganjuk Regency, Nganjuk Children's Forum, Nganjuk Police, East Java Police Psychologist Team, Sokola Pelangi and other volunteers will provide ongoing psychosocial support services in a coordinated and scheduled manner.
