Ministry of Social Affairs Sends Psychosocial Support Service Team to Disaster Area in East Sumba
EAST SUMBA (April 15, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with
Disabilities and the Bandung "Wyata Guna" Disability Center provides
support for survivors of flash floods in East Sumba Regency, East Nusa
Tenggara.
This flash flood occurred
as a result of the Seroja Tropical Cyclone storm. The Ministry of Social
Affairs continues to provide disaster relief management, following the
direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, who urges all
parties to move quickly to recover disaster survivors in Indonesia.
The Minister of Social
Affairs also said that handling was not only limited to providing social
assistance, but also through providing Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) and
Trauma Healing to victims affected by disasters.
April 14, 2021, the Wyata
Guna Disability Center Case Response Team arrived in East Sumba Regency to
provide Psychosocial Support Services to victims affected by the disaster. The
team was received by the Head of the East Sumba Regency Social Service, Oktavianus
Tamu Ama and his staff. He expressed his gratitude for the Ministry of Social
Affairs through the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with
Disabilities and the Bandung "Wyata Guna" Disability Center for the
attention to flood survivors in East Sumba Regency.
The Bandung "Wyata
Guna" Center for Disabilities is collaborating with the Braille Literacy
Center "Abiyoso" in Cimahi, the "Wirajaya" Disability
Center in Makassar, and the "Budi Luhur" Center for Disabilities in
Banjarbaru to coordinate the distribution of tasks and locations for providing
psychosocial support services.
The Bandung "Wyata
Guna" Center for Disabilities, which consists of 3 LDP officers, provides
services in 3 sub-districts in Kambera District, namely Kambaniru, Mauhau, and
Mauliru sub-districts.
Asep Solihin, a social
worker from the Disability Center "Wyata Guna" Bandung, said that LDP
was given using methods of building confidence, cooperation, and patience in
dealing with disasters to reduce trauma, restore enthusiasm
for life, and returning to normal activities. LDP is given in groups, families
or individually.
