JAKARTA (November 9, 2020) - The Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Harry Hikmat, gave directions and officially opened the synchronization activity of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program for victims of drug abuse.

"Seeing the portrait of the effectiveness of prisoners of drug abuse in prisons published by the Data and Information Research Center of the National Narcotics Agency, how important is the flow of the implementation of the social rehabilitation program for victims of drug abuse through a screening or assessment process in social work practices," said Harry.

Harry added in relation to the ATENSI program. Victims of drug abuse who have been screened with low risk can be given medical services and family-based social rehabilitation. However, for those with moderate and severe risks, further assessment needs to be carried out to ensure what kind of medical and social rehabilitation are provided so that services can be carried out optimally. In the context of social rehabilitation, ATENSI is very important to be applied sustainably.

From a number of survey results related to the use of media as an effort to prevent drug abuse in the past year. Television is still used as the most appropriate medium with a percentage of 40%, social media by 30%, the use of banners, brochures and pamphlets by 13%, while other media spread by 17% including films and anti-drug advertisements.

"This information can certainly be a reference for making various indirect service-oriented efforts," added Harry.

Harry wants that with the synchronization activities, there can be sharpening of more creative activities for victims of drug abuse.

In an effort to prevent drug abuse, it can be done more attractively, for example in the form of talk shows or can use an artistic and cultural approach through anti-drug concerts.

Harry also explained that in the social rehabilitation program, the directorate provides services indirectly through prevention campaigns, technical guidance for managers and assistants for social rehabilitation, supervision, policy reflexes, formulation of guidelines, technical coordination meetings and social advocacy.

Furthermore, Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) provides services directly through ATENSI which consist of support for fulfilling a decent life, social care, family support, therapy, vocational training and entrepreneurship development, social assistance and social assistance, as well as accessibility support.

Harry hopes that this synchronization activity will become a forum for discussion on how the implementation of ATENSI in the office can be fully supported by the directorate. The Directorate as a supporting system can build synergies between the central and local governments so that the implementation of ATENSI is more effective.

The 38 participants were representatives from the Directorate for the Rehabilitation of Drug Abuse Victims (KPN), the KPN Center and Loka and the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
