GARUT (2 September 2020) - The COVID-19 pandemic is still thrived in Indonesia requires all of people to carry out their activities with health protocols, including students through Indonesia, when they are still learning through the online media. This is becomes a serious problem for parents who cannot facilitate their children due to the economic difficulties. As known, to do the online learning, students are required to have gadget that supported by adequate internet quota.
Mr. “A” is forced to steal his neighbor’s cellphone in order to meet the online school needs for his son “S”. “A” feels sad because “S” had a hard time to following lessons at school. “A” is a daily laborer and has no stabilized income. His neighbor who finally found out that “A” stole his cellphone, did not extend this case because the cellphone was actually used by “S” to online learning.
In response that case, representing the Solidarity Action Organization for the Indonesia Onward Cabinet (Oase Indonesia Onward Cabinet) as well as an advisor Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Ministry of Social Affairs, Grace Juliari Batubara accompanied by Head of Sub-Directorate for AMPK The Social Rehabilitation for children, Cupsanto and the Head of Jakarta Children’s Center “Handayani”, Neneng Heryani visited “S” house in Garut Regency, West Java. The child is in 7th grade in one of the MTs in Garut Regency. The purpose to assure that “S” can continue to follow the learning process with enthusiasm.
In favour the learning process for “S”, Grace provide compensation include a laptop, cellphone, shool bag, shoes, and stationery. “Anyway, you study hard, you have to remember the struggles of your parents, you have to be a smart child, a proud child” Grace said.
Connect online advisory DWP Ministry of Education and Culture of The Republic Indonesia, Franka Nadiem Makarim and Principal “S”. Franka also said that the Ministry of Education and Culture, “S” would receive internet quota for the next few months.
Futhermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue monitoring to support and assist the learning needs for “S”. In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs will try to find solution for the problems of other students who also suffered difficulties in implement online learning.
