SULAWESI (6 November 2019) - The "Gau Mabaji" Center for Elderly Social Rehabilitation (BRSLU) in Gowa carried out the Assistance for the Social Care Program for the Elderly through the Al-Jumrah Social Welfare Institution (LKS) in Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi Province.

This program is the provision of social assistance and care services for the elderly at home in carrying out daily activities carried out by family, relatives and / or the community.

The purpose of implementing this program is to explore and involve community participation in providing social welfare services for the elderly in the community through the Elderly Social Welfare Institution (LKS).

In addition, this program is also to expand the reach of elderly social welfare services in the community in order to improve the welfare / quality of life of the elderly.

The number of elderly people who are given social care assistance through the Al-Jumrah LKS is 50 people, valued at Rp. 55,000,000, -. Coming from nine sub-districts in Polewali Mandar Regency, namely Polewali, Mapili, Luyo, Balanipa, Tinambung, Wonomulyo, Tapango, Matakali, and Campalagian Districts.

Head of BRSLU "Gau Mabaji" in Gowa, Syam Wuryani symbolically handed over this assistance to seven elderly representatives. The activity was also accompanied by Rusiah as Head of Sub Division of Administration and Subhan Kadir as Head of the Section for Assessment and Social Advocacy.

"With this assistance, we hope that the elderly can improve their quality of life and welfare so that they can live a healthy and happy old age," said Syam Wuryani.

"We would like to thank BRSLU" Gau Mabaji "in Gowa, I hope that in the future the elderly in Polewali Mandar can be given more attention," said Yusuf Djalaluddin as Head of Social Service for Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi in his speech.

This activity was attended by 10 BRSLU officers, Gau Mabaji, Head of Service and Head of Social Rehabilitation, Polewali Mandar, Head of Al-Jumrah LKS, and 7 elderly recipients of assistance who also attended this activity.

In addition, the elderly recipients of aid who were bedridden were also visited directly by the BRSLU team "Gau Mabaji" in Gowa. One of them is Khadija's grandmother who is in care in the family.

"I am happy that the government pays attention to elderly people who are no longer active like me. This assistance is very useful for us," said Khadijah, one of the aid recipients.
