JAKARTA (June 17, 2020) - Ministry of Social Affairs through Betawi Youth Forum provided 2,000 packages of Sembako President for communities affected by COVID-19 in 5 areas in DKI Jakarta, such as Depok, South Tangerang, Tangerang City.

Today, 200 packages were distributed by the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara accompanied by Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto, Special Staff of the Minister for Inter-Institutional Relations, Erwin TPL Tobing to residents from 13 RTs in RW 03 Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

People in RW 03 Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit District, mostly work as daily traders, plastic screen printing workers and private employees and some were affected by layoffs. They have never received assistance from the central government and the regional government of DKI Jakarta.

In his speech, Minister of Social Affairs said that MoSA is ready to support social actions like this which are intended for our brothers and sisters affected by COVID-19.

“Many people who are not working, or who has to be layoffs. I’m here to express this commitment and hopefully our presence can continue to establish a friendly relationship, "said Juliari.

On this occasion, Minister of Social Affairs gave symbolically the President's Basic Needs Assistance to representatives of 5 residents and visited the homes of residents who were at the location.

Social Minister visited the first house, Mrs. Tasem (52), a mother of four children, who sells rice in front of her house and sells food, as long as there is COVID-19, her income is reduced compared to before COVID.

"With this assistance, it can be used for daily needs, I am very happy to be able to receive this assistance, Thank you Mr. President and Mr. Minister," said Ms. Tasem.

Social Minister continued his visit to meet a boy named Franky Maulana (19) whose mother's job is selling food at school. Now she is not longer to do it because the school was closed temporarily, so that Franky decided to help his mother at home.

"I am very happy and thankful for your help later for this assistance," Franky said.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Empowerment, General Head of the Directorate General of Social Assistance, the Chairperson of YPI As-Sa'adah, the Chairperson of the Jakarta FKDM, Pondok Kelapa Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-District Head, Jawara Betawi Community, FKPPI, RW 003 Chairperson, RT 1S Chairperson / d 13 and Alim Ulama Community Leaders also attended the event.
