MoSA Facilitates Persons with Disabilities to Participate in COVID-19 Vaccination
JAKARTA (May 7, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through 5 Social Rehabilitation Centers in the Jakarta Bekasi area, today facilitated the pick-up of Persons with Mental Disabilities, Beneficiaries of the Bina Karya Social Home (PSBK) Harapan Jaya Jakarta to take part in the Covid-19 vaccination at Istora Senayan.
"Today we picked up and delivered 43 people with mental disabilities and 19 companions from PSBK Harapan Jaya to Istora Senayan to undergo Covid-19 vaccination using 5 buses," said Imam as Activities Coordinator from the Directorate of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Affairs.
According to Imam, the Ministry of Social Affairs also deployed companion staff consisting of 10 nurses and social workers from the Social Rehabilitation Center to accompany people with mental disabilities during the journey to Istora Senayan and directly accompany them during the COVID-19 vaccination process until completion.
"Thank you, Ministry of Social Affairs, for helping us guide our beneficiaries to take part in the COVID-19 vaccination process at Istora Senayan," said Reni, one of the companions from PSBK Harapan Jaya. This is the second vaccination for PSBK Harapan Jaya Beneficiaries, said Reni.
The provision of the COVID-19 vaccine to people with disabilities is in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction for disabled groups so that they are not left behind by the government. Persons with Disabilities have equal rights to other citizens, including the right to receive COVID-19 vaccination.
This pick-up and delivery is an effort by the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide easy facilities for people with disabilities to reach the COVID-19 vaccination location at Istora Senayan.
