MEDAN (1 April 2022) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) had responded to the problems faced by RR, a homeless mother of four children at Amplas Bus Station in Medan. MoSA through the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of Sentra Bahagia Medan had provided temporary housing for RR and her four children in Sentra Bahagia.

This was following the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini so that all ranks of the MoSA respond to various social problems for Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) and vulnerable groups of people.

Their life story was known from the show on a Youtube channel entitled “Kisah Pilu Tukang Sapu Angkot di Terminal Amplas Hidup dalam Keprihatinan Bersama Keempat Anaknya”. Sentra Bahagia Medan then moved quickly to respond to this case.

"The team went to the location of PPKS who live in the area of one of the largest bus stations in Medan," said the Head of the Sentra Bahagia Medan, Lifyarman (01/04).

From the initial assessment, it is known that RR is a mother of four children whose ages are under eight years. In their daily life, RR's children only play around the terminal. Furthermore, MK frequently entrusted her youngest baby to a cake seller when RR was doing her job sweeping public transportation at the Amplas bus station.

RR explained that she lived separately from her husband who was having legal problems. Since then, she has been forced to live modestly. To support her four children, RR cleaned public transportation with minimal wages.

On that occasion, the team also coordinated with the Department of Transportation at the Amplas bus station. They discussed the best possible way to help the PPKS.

As a result, the family would stay temporarily at Sentra Bahagia Medan. "So, it is better for mothers and their small children to stay in Sentra in order to get services and live a better life," said Lifyarman.

The temporary assessment revealed that RR was a resident of East Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Province. RR asked to be sent back to her hometown. "I want to go home if possible," she said.

Responding to RR's request, Lifyarman immediately coordinated with the Sentra Paramita of MoSA in Mataram to ensure the existence of the PPKS family in East Lombok.

Now, RR and her four children have been at Sentra Bahagia Medan to get services from the MoSA. Here, RR and her children receive assistance in the form of daily needs.

MoSA has carried out the handling of poverty in Indonesia by providing protection, rehabilitation, and empowerment which is expected to make them rise and become economically independent in the future.

MoSA also provides housing in the form of flats for formerly homeless people and beggars. Currently, 200 families are ready to live in two flats in Bekasi and Bambu Apus, East Jakarta.

The occupants will be selected and will receive training as a provision for independent living or be distributed to the appropriate place of work.
