BOGOR (23 March 2021) - Ciungwanara Bogor
Disability Center, which was founded in 1985, is one of the Ministry of Social
Affairs' Technical Implementation Units (UPT) which provides Social
Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program services for persons with
disabilities.
Director-General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat, emphasized
during his visit last week to the Ciungwanara Disability Center, that the
ATENSI Creation Center (SKA) is an important priority to be presented at each
center following the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri
Rismaharini, as previously inaugurated at the Training Center “Pangudi Luhur”
Bekasi and Center for Disability “Kartini” Temanggung.
SKA is a center for entrepreneurial and vocational development as well
as a promotional medium to market the work of the beneficiaries.
Harry also directed that later the SKA at the Ciungwanara Disability
Center had mainstay services in the form of occupational therapy for persons
with disabilities in need.
"The equipment, facilities, and human resources are complete to
become an Occupational Therapy Service Center. So it is hoped that the
Occupational Therapy Service at Ciungwanara Center will not only be felt for
residential of beneficiaries but also for the public, "said Harry.
Based on Social Minister Regulation No. 16 of 2020 we know that therapy
is one of the important elements in ATENSI interventions, one of which is
occupational therapy.
Occupational therapy is a form of therapeutic service through activities
that are meaningful and aimed at individuals who experience impaired
occupational performance with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities.
The 12 types of techniques in the implementation of occupational therapy
in the ATENSI program include integrated sensory therapy, snoezelen therapy,
pre-vocational skills, pre-writing skills, self-care therapy, relaxation
therapy, ADL therapy, recreational therapy, group art activity therapy, group
interaction activity therapy, ADL group activity therapy, and problem-solving
therapy.
These occupational
therapy services can usually be found in hospitals and child development
clinics. With a fee that is quite expensive with a cost range starts from IDR 150,000
per arrival. However, the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to strive to
develop services to the community by opening free occupational therapy services
at the Ciungwanara Disability Center.
The head of the Ciungwanara Disability Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti, said
that it is hoped that occupational therapy services at the center can more
widely reach the wider community who need this therapy.
"With occupational therapists at Ciungwanara Center, persons with
disabilities, both residential, community, and family will receive services
using therapeutic activities that can improve various components of
occupational performance, from the sensory, motor, cognitive, psychosocial, to
individual social, so that independence is formed and improve the quality of
life for these individuals," said Sari.
Feby, one of the parents of beneficiaries who is accompanying her child
to receive occupational therapy services, expressed her gratitude for her child
being treated in Ciungwanara by competent staff and good facilities.
"I am very grateful to the Ministry of Social Affairs and occupational
therapists, Mrs. Nana and Mrs. Nisa, who have treated my child well and the
facilities are quite complete. Usually the occupational therapy costs at the
growth and development clinic for my child are quite expensive, so it becomes
an obstacle for us but at this Center, our children can be treated by reliable
personnel for free," said Feby.
