BANTAENG (April 22, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Pangurangi" Training Center in Takalar provided a family-based Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program for People with HIV (ODHIV) in Bantaeng Regency,

The ATENSI program is a response to a request from the Bantaeng District Health Office to provide social assistance to PLHIV in the Bantaeng District area.

Head of the Bantaeng Regency Infectious Diseases Division, Armansyah said there were many cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Bantaeng and almost half of them did not have good knowledge about HIV.

In fact, there was one family who refused health workers who would provide HIV services at their home and behaved dangerously to officers.

According to Sulaeman, the Social Worker at the "Pangurangi" Training Center in Takalar, the acceptance of PLHIV for what they experienced varied. This is influenced by knowledge about HIV, the more knowledge PLHIV has about HIV, the more positive impact it will have on their lives.

According to Sulaeman, the ATENSI program is implemented starting with an assessment of the Beneficiaries to find out the conditions of the Beneficiaries themselves and their families and the needs they need. Then from the assessment results, the Social Worker can determine the services that can be provided to the Beneficiaries.

Sulaeman added that from the results of an assessment conducted by the Social Worker, it was found that Beneficiaries experienced difficulties in meeting their basic needs due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the service provided by the "Pangurangi" Training Center was assistance with basic needs packages.

This activity was also attended by the Social Service and Health Services as well as assistants and managers of PLHIV Bissapu Community Health Center in Bantaeng Regency as a form of support for the implementation of ATENSI in Bantaeng Regency.
