WEST LOMBOK (February 4, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Paramita" Children's Center conducts social mediation and advocacy for families with social psychological problems through case discussions with several stakeholders, including: West Nusa Tenggara Province Social Office, West Lombok Regency Social Office, Mataram City Social Office, Mataram City Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office, West Lombok Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office, and also attended by Religious Counselors from the Ministry of Religion.

The initiation of this activity arose because the family with socio-psychological problems was almost expelled by residents from their neighborhood as a result of their two children committing disgraceful acts and being caught by residents on the front porch of their house some time ago.

The mediation activity started at 10.30 WITA at the residence of one of the residents, and was opened by the local RT Chair. Furthermore, the "Paramita" Children's Center through Den Ardani as Social Counselor provided introductory material for the meeting on Child Care in the Context of Child Protection Efforts.

Den, as he is greeted every day, said, "Parents have a very strong influence on children's behavior, so it is necessary to understand educational behavior and the consequences of positive and negative behavior from parents. Being a better parent is not determined by how much money/wealth we have."

Furthermore, he said, "Economic limitations do not mean that you cannot have good parenting skills, as long as parents can learn to control their emotions. Better parents will produce great children," he added.

After delivering the material on child care, the Ministry of Religion through Mrs. Hj. Rahmi as Religious Counselor from the Ministry of Religion said, "This environment is good because it has a prayer room, mosque, there is a Qur'an Education Place (TPA) and a taklim assembly so that religious activities can be held to increase the faith and piety of the residents here."

However, he regretted that routine environmental recitation activities had not been carried out since the 2018 earthquake.

Then, the next session was the agreement and commitment of the residents to be able to accept the existence of the family with social and psychological problems with several conditions. Then Zohri, who is also a Social Counselor at the "Paramita" Children's Center, guided the discussion and case discussion to determine the bright spot for the social problems that occurred in the family.

"Ladies and gentlemen are welcomed to express opinions in order to reach the best solution for the protection of the children of the family, please convey it." Zohri said.

There are two conditions put forward by the surrounding community, first, the family is expected to pay more attention and give love to their children who seem neglected and are allowed to constantly play outside the house. The second condition is that the residents want their children to get rehabilitation at a government service place.

Then Zohri said, "Paramita Children's Center is ready to accept referrals for the two children to receive social rehabilitation services along with therapies that support behavioral changes."

With the answer given by Zohri, it makes residents calmer and think positively to be able to accept the existence of the family again. The head of the local RT hopes that a similar incident will not happen again in the neighborhood where he lives.

At the end of the session, Arif Budiman as the Head of the RT said, "I was greatly helped by the attention from the state through the presence of the ladies and gentlemen from the relevant offices, hopefully this will be a lesson for all of us to be better parents."
