WEST LOMBOK (June 2, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Paramita" Social Rehabilitation Center in Mataram conducted an outreach to the case of a 1.5-month-old baby with the initials AH who suffered from labiopalatoschisis or commonly known as cleft lip.

Baby AH is the youngest of 3 siblings. He has 2 brothers who are 12 years old and 2 years old. As a result of the limited economic conditions that make the ability of parents to fulfill their basic life needs, AH has a delay in physical development.

AH's father's profession is a brick-making laborer and AH's mother, who is just a housewife, is unable to meet their daily needs.

The head of the "Paramita" Center, Ketut Supena said that his party would solve this child's social problems by connecting to the available source system.

"We together with Sakti Peksos (Social Worker Service Unit), the Hamlet Head, and the BPJS have coordinated the making of BPJS health card for babies and the BPJS has been released. Furthermore, when the AH baby's weight has reached 5 kg, the AH baby will be assisted to get free cleft lip surgery services in collaboration with Mataram University Hospital," explained Ketut.

Ketut added that as long as the baby AH undergoes surgery and treatment, the parents will stay at the Paramita Center because the parents' house is far from the hospital.

Improving infant nutrition will be supported by giving milk because until now AH baby can only get nutrition from his mother's milk. The Ministry of Social Affairs through  Paramita Center has also provided diapers and clothes, telon oil, wet wipes, and other necessities," said Ketut.

Suharni, who is a social rehabilitation assistant for children in West Lombok Regency, is also committed to be able to oversee the administrative process of providing Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance for the family of the AH baby.
