JAKARTA (November 5, 2020) - Senior Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs for Social Accessibility carried out the activity of drafting a Policy Brief on the Pattern of Implementing Social Rehabilitation Programs for People with Disabilities outside the Center during a Pandemic in the VIP Meeting Room of the Aneka Bhakti Building, Ministry of Social Affairs.
"One of the Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) who is vulnerable and most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic is persons with disabilities, for that one of the policy briefs that will be proposed is how to implement social rehabilitation patterns for people with disabilities during the new normal," said Sonny Manalu, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs for Social Accessibility.
This statement was reinforced by the Chairman of Indonesian Association of Persons with Disabilities (PPDI), Gufron who stated "From a poll of 1,200 people from all over Indonesia, the result was that there was an 80% reduction in income for people with disabilities, for that it is necessary to provide programs that are accessible to people with disabilities during the pandemic".
Present at the event were 15 people consisting of representatives from PPDI, the Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities Directorate, the Social Rehabilitation Secretariat, "Cibinong" Center for Vocational Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities (BBRVPD), "Tan Miyat" Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Visual Disabilities (BRSPDSN) in Bekasi and employees in the Senior Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs.
The discussion was active and the participants exchanged ideas for the preparation of a draft policy brief. The next agenda of this activity is the finalization of the preparation of a policy brief which will then be submitted to the Minister of Social Affairs.
