BOGOR (March 16, 2021) – The Head of the Ciungwanara Disability Center accompanied by the Head of Social Rehabilitation Services, Social Workers and Occupational Therapy made a visit to the Autism and Cerebral Palsy Friendly Home in Bogor. This activity is a follow-up to the direction of the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat during a working visit to the Ciungwanara Disability Center last week, that in the implementation of the ATENSI Creation Center, Occupational Therapy services will become one of the mainstay services for people who need this therapy free of charge.

The first visit of the Head of Center and her team was to the Bogor Autism Home. The team was immediately warmly welcomed by Ajeng, as the Head of the Bogor Branch of the Autism Home. The Head of the Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti, then conveyed that the purpose of this visit was to establish cooperation in the implementation of the ATENSI program.

"The purpose of the visit to Balai Ciungwanara, which is one of the Centers belonging to the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, is related to the plan to develop ATENSI Creation Centers and strengthen networks in the implementation of the ATENSI program. This visit is also expected to open opportunities for collaboration between the two parties in handling children with autism disabilities ," said Sari.

Currently the Bogor Autism House has 13 students, this number has decreased significantly considering the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. In his speech, Ajeng said that the Bogor Autism House was formed as a concern for the education of autistic children. "The lack of schools that provide curricula for autistic children and as a manifestation of the call of the heart to help autistic children. This is the forerunner to the establishment of the Bogor Autism House," said Ajeng.

Rumah Autism is a social institution that facilitates education and therapy for people with autism. Its members are not required to pay for therapy, the source of funds is obtained from cross-subsidies between members who are financially capable. Children with autism are taught according to a curriculum that has been adapted from the SLB curriculum and adapted to the abilities of each individual. Before the education and therapy process started, the Bogor Autism House made an agreement with the parents, this agreement was intended so that education and therapy plans could run with the cooperation of both parties so that the results achieved could be maximized.

The team then proceeded to the next destination to the Friendly Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Bogor, the arrival of the Ciungwanara Disability Center team was welcomed by the chairman of the foundation and several administrators.

In his speech, the Chairperson of the Foundation said that the purpose of establishing Friendly Cerebral Palsy was to have a sense of sharing the same fate as having a child with cerebral palsy.

"With the Cerebral Palsy Friendly Foundation, parents of children with cerebral palsy can exchange information and give each other motivation. Friendly Cerebral Palsy was formed to serve children with cerebral palsy in the Bogor City and Regency area," said the Chairman of the Foundation.

The equipment owned by Friendly Cerebral Palsy comes from a grant from the administrators. The therapies provided by Friendly Cerebral Palsy include Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy. Friendly Cerebral Palsy often holds seminars or shares knowledge using WhatsApp discussion group media. The cost incurred by parents for one therapy implementation is IDR 25.000,- this price is much cheaper than the cost of therapy in hospitals and other growth and development clinics.

Sari also conveyed about the program that was being promoted by the Ministry of Social Affairs' centers. “Ciungwanara Disability Center, which is currently focusing on implementing the ATENSI Program, will provide occupational therapy and counseling services for children with Cerebral Palsy and Autism. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a good collaboration between the Ciungwanara Disability Center and the Autism and Cerebral Palsy Friendly Home, so that they can work together to create a better and independent life for people with disabilities,” said Sari closing the visit.
