Preventing Stunting, PKH Social Assistance for Toddlers and Pregnant Women Rises
President Joko Widodo said the government raised the social assistance index of Family Hope Program (PKH) for the category of Pregnant Women and Early Childhood from Rp2.4 million to Rp3 million each year for stunting prevention.
"The most important thing in the condition of pregnant women is not to forget the nutrition for the child within their womb. Mothers with children under the age of five, do not forget their nutrition," said the President while monitoring the submission of PKH first phase in Rajawali Field, Cimahi City, West Java Province, Wednesday (1/29).
The President gave an example that children under five must receive nutritious food such as eggs, fish, meat, vegetables and fruits.
"If you have toddler with you, give them the eggs first, instead of the father," said the President followed by KPM PKH's laughing.
Nutrition matters, the President continued, must not be forgotten. If the child's nutrition is fulfilled, the children will grow up healthy and can perform well in school.
