JAKARTA (October 19, 2020) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs supports the implementation of the Integrated Criminal Justice System for Handling Cases of Violence against Women (SPPT-PKKTP) as a step to protect women as one of the vulnerable groups.

Representing the Director General of Child Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Social Rehabilitation of Children in Need of Special Protection, MK Agung Suhartoyo explained, vulnerable groups must receive adequate protection.

Therefore, Agung said, the focus of handling women as a vulnerable group is not only limited to women of adult age. But also women aged children and women with disabilities. According to him, every step taken must take the side of vulnerable groups, especially if they become victims of crime.

"We hope that this regulation will help protect (female) children or women with disabilities from getting their rights, and if a case occurs later it can be revealed properly," said Agung at a National Meeting discussing strategic steps in implementing SPPT-PKKTP organized by Komnas Perempuan in Jakarta, Monday (19/8).

Furthermore, in implementing measures that support vulnerable groups, Agung explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs has through the ATENSI (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) program which also focuses on mentoring and trauma recovery for victims of violence.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs, through ATENSI, prioritize the existence of places of rehabilitation such as AMPK Center, RPTC and safe houses. In order to provide assistance, how to get rid of trauma, until you return to the midst of your family or community again, that's what the Ministry of Social Affairs does in supporting this regulation," he said.

Furthermore, Agung said, the presence of the SPPT-PKKTP had implications for the ministries and institutions tasked with handling women. As a relevant ministry or agency that must prioritize synchronization in the application of protection efforts, Agung hopes that the collaboration that will be established has a clear line of authority.

"The authority is very important so that the handling of cases must be clear and firm. So that the handling is complete and comprehensive. For example, for the rehabilitation of the handling of women who are victims. Of course we are committed to fully support this regulation," he concluded.
