SUKABUMI (March 31, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs responds to the needs of people with mental disabilities (ODGJ) living in the Keputih Social Boarding School (Liponsos) Surabaya, East Java. A total of 100 ODGJ were taken to the "Phala Martha" Disability Center in Sukabumi to receive social services.
In accordance with previous instructions, the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini directed Social Rehabilitation Centers to deal with ODGJ in Liponsos Keputih, Surabaya which had excess capacity.
100 ODGJ who have arrived at the "Phala Martha" Disability Center on Tuesday (30/3) night will be provided with Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) services according to the needs of each individual. In order for the services provided to be effective and on target, proper examination is also required through a comprehensive assessment.
Based on the direction of the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat, several centers were appointed to participate in the comprehensive assessment, one of which was the "Ciungwanara" Disability Center.
The head of the Ciungwanara Disability Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti, said that she immediately dispatched a team to carry out a comprehensive assessment.
"We immediately dispatched a competent team to carry out a comprehensive assessment consisting of 3 social workers and 1 occupational therapist, this requires solid and fast team work so that social services can be immediately provided appropriately to PM," said Sari.
This activity is one proof that the Ministry of Social Affairs is always present for beneficiaries (PM), whether they are in the family, community, LKS and in orphanages owned by the Regional Government, such as the one in Liponsos Keputih, Surabaya. This also shows that the synergy between the centers is well established to work hand in hand to provide excellent service for PM. Centers that also carry out comprehensive assessments include the Kahuripan Center and the Vocational Center.
After obtaining the results of a comprehensive assessment, each PM will receive a different intervention. "Ciungwanara" Disability Center will continue to support the process of social rehabilitation services that will be provided either support in the form of providing therapy or skills for these PMs.
Social Minister Risma also directed that ODGJs could be given simple skills, starting from farming such as planting flowers, cultivating chili vegetables, eggplant, long beans and raising chicken pieces and laying hens. This effort can realize the social and economic independence of the beneficiaries.
