PACITAN (January 21, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Antasena" Children's Center in Magelang made a quick response to information about a child suffering from meningitis in Kasihan Village, Tegalombo District, Pacitan Regency, East Java. Thursday (21/1). "Antasena" Children's Center Case Response Team went to the location to see firsthand the condition of AZ, a child with meningitis.

Based on monitoring at the location, currently AZ, who is 5.5 years old, can only lie in bed with a conscious condition and can open his eyes or move his head, while food intake is given through a tube. Information obtained from Sukatno, AZ's father, initially AZ often complained of dizziness and was taken to the doctor for treatment. A few days later when he woke up, AZ complained of dizziness and asked his mother for a massage, but AZ's condition got worse accompanied by vomiting and convulsions. AZ's parents then took him to the Public Health Center (Puskesmas) where he was referred to Dr. RSUD. Darsono Pacitan. The results of laboratory tests AZ suffered from meningitis. AZ was hospitalized for 14 days in an unconscious condition before being brought home by his parents.

"Antasena" Children's Center, apart from providing psychosocial assistance to AZ's parents, also provides assistance to fulfill basic needs for AZ. This psychosocial assistance and fulfillment of basic needs is the implementation of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program or ATENSI from the Ministry of Social Affairs. The assistance provided consists of 3 components. The components to fulfill basic needs are rice, cooking oil, eggs, sugar and tea. The components of fulfilling nutrition improvement are milk, biscuits, wafers, and date palm juice. As well as health care components in the form of blankets, diapers, eucalyptus oil, telon oil, underwear, folding carpets, drinking bottles, powder, shampoo, soap, and tissue.

Djunaidi, Head of Sub-Division of Administration representing the Head of "Antasena" Children's Center in Magelang said that after the Center received information about children with meningitis, they immediately coordinated with various competent parties and immediately moved to the location. "The Center will immediately cooperate with the local Social Office and prepare AZ's needs. Hopefully the assistance provided can be useful," he explained.

The Head of Kasihan Village, H. Masduki thanked the Center for the attention. "Thank you for caring for our residents. The assistance provided is very useful," he said.

Sukatno said that before he was sick, AZ was an active and smart child. The neighbors felt sad because they usually interacted and were entertained by AZ's funny actions. "Thank you for your hard work and concern for my child. Hopefully all of us are healthy physically and spiritually," he said.

Currently, Sukatno works as a farm laborer and occupies a very simple house in the form of a cubicle house with a ground floor. Before AZ got meningitis his mother also worked as a farm laborer, but now he has to stay at home taking care of AZ. Although as a farm laborer, Sukatno is very aware of the importance of education, this is shown by his ability to send his first child to college, while his second child is still in elementary school.

The implementation of the response to this case also involved the Social Worker Service Unit (Sakti Peksos) of Pacitan Regency, the District Social Welfare Officer (TKSK) of Tegalombo District, and the Head of Kasihan Village.
