JAKARTA (November 13, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Handayani" Children's Center in Jakarta recently received a case report regarding 8 children with disabilities affected by COVID-19. These 8 children with disabilities are assisted by the Child Welfare Institution (LKSA) Rumah Kita Foundation. This report comes from the Chairperson of the Rumah Kita Foundation LKSA, Herman Nugraha who reported that these 8 children with disabilities were affected by COVID-19 due to the condition of their parents or families who had to be laid off or removed from their offices and did not even have jobs so that it was hampered in meeting the children's daily needs.

Responding to the report, the Head of the "Handayani" Children's Center, Neni Riawati, immediately gave tasks and directions to the "Handayani" Children's Center case response team to immediately investigate the cases of these children. "Immediately excavated, traced, conduct assessments and meet the needs of the 8 children," said Neni

The case response team immediately searched the houses of the 8 children. After the assessment, it was discovered that there were 4 children with intellectual disabilities, 2 children with physical disabilities, and 2 children with multiple disabilities. All of them experience difficulties in fulfilling nutrition and nutrition because their parents or family are below the poverty line.

Finally, after knowing the conditions and needs of the children, "Handayani" Children's Center provided assistance in meeting the nutritional and nutritional needs of all children. The assistance consisted of basic food ingredients, milk, vitamins, biscuits, to hand sanitizer, and masks. Furthermore, the "Handayani" Children's Center will continue to monitor 8 children through the Rumah Kita Foundation LKSA.
