BIMA (5
April 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through
the Bali Visual Disability Center "Mahatmiya" responded to the case
at the direction of the Director General of Social Rehabilitation related to
flash floods in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
Data compiled from the Regional Disaster Management
Agency (BPBD) NTB Province, families affected by flooding in Madapangga Sub
District 1,672 families / 5,617 people affected, Bolo Sub District 3,140 / 7,564
people affected, Woha Sub District 3,173 families / 9,725 people affected, Monta
Sub District 991 families / 2,973 people affected, and Palibelo Sub District
493 families / 2,073 people affected.
The Case Response Team led by the Head of Social
Rehabilitation Services, Herlin Wahyuni Hidayat, immediately coordinated with
stakeholders, namely the Head of the Bima Regency Social Service, Andi
Sirojudin and Companions for Persons with Disabilities. Based on preliminary
information obtained, several persons with disabilities are affected by flash
flood.
Andi said that many people with disabilities were
affected by the flood this time. "Please help them according to their
urgent needs. They really need necessities at this time," he said.
After obtaining the information, the Team immediately
went to the field and visited a family that has four persons with severe
physical disabilities. Idris Abdullah, a father of four said that his children
have been suffering from this disease since they were young between the ages of
7-9 years.
"My biggest child, Badaruddin, has had a high fever
for a week since he was 9 years old. After that, his legs started to go limp,
but he was still able to walk but slowly started to stiffen until he is
now," said the man in the brown shirt.
When the team conducted the assessment, Badaruddin (50
years old) could only be lying in bed. Unable to sit, joints experience
stiffness, his hands and legs look smaller than his age. He looks clean and
well-groomed, with no strong odor. Communication is difficult but still
understandable.
The same problem also suffered by his third child, Jasman
(45 years old) and Sriyati (38 years). Jasman when he was 8 years old is the
same case as Syahrudin. However, it was different from the last child. Idris
informed that Sriyati, when she was 3 years old, saw an astral creature, tall
and large, in black color, so she was frightened and fainted. She experienced
fear for days. Idris believes that his daughter's illness is due to mystical
science.
The team immediately coordinated with the Center for Disability “Prof. DR. Soeharso” Surakarta through photos and videos for further treatment of the disease suffered by this family.
Representing the Head of the Mahatmiya Bali Visual Disability Center, Middle Social Worker, Ni Putu Esti provided assistance in the form of a box of fast food and four packages of necessities consisting of rice, instant noodles, soy sauce, sauce, biscuits, sardines, cooking oil, liquid bath soap, as well as laundry soap.
Esti encouraged the family to endure this ordeal. "Hopefully the assistance we provide can help the needs of Mr. Idris' family," Esti hoped.
The journey continues to the second location at the Cahaya Insan Rabakodo Village, Woha Sub District. This location cannot be accessed by motorized vehicles because the road is still inundated with water, requiring the Team to walk about 1 km to arrive there.
The water is still submerging the LKS building. There were four people with mental disorders, three of them in one room, supine position with chained legs. The other is in another building, seen talking to himself with his feet chained. The Section Head of Social Rehabilitation, Herlin Wahyuni handed over fast food aid to meet their food needs.
Visual Disability Center Mahatmiya Bali in addition to assisting with six boxes of fast food and 60 packages of groceries worth Rp 300 thousand, also handed over 50 boxes of mineral water to the Tagana main post at the Social Service of Bima Regency.
In addition to
responding to cases, the Team will also implement Psychosocial Support Services
for residents with disabilities affected by the flood tomorrow (06/04).
