NATUNA (22 September 2020) - Ministry of Social Affairs visited one of the remote, outermost, and foremost areas of Indonesia to distribute Rice Social Assistance (BSB) to KPM PKH.

Social Minister Juliari P. Batubara visited Natuna District, Riau Islands to ensure that social assistance can be received by the recipients.

"Ministry of Social has just launched an additional program, Rice Social Assistance (BSB) for 10 million KPM PKH this month until November," explained Juliari P. Batubara.

His arrival to Natuna was also to attend the 2020 Preventive Operations Social Service which was held by Maritime Security Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakamla RI). Located at the PPI Building, Lampa Strait, Natuna, Riau Islands, Bakamla distributed assistance in this social service. During his visit, Minister of Social Affairs ensured that Ministry of Social Affairs programs provided for residents in Natuna Regency can be actually reached the recipients.

After leaving the PPI Building, Minister of Social Affairs checked BULOG Ranai warehouse in Natuna Regency to ensure the rice stock and rice packages of 15kg that would be given to 1,004 PKH KPM in Natuna. Symbolically, Minister of Social Affairs together with the Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto symbolically handed over the BSB to the KPM PKH representative who lives near the warehouse.

Rice Social assistance is one of the Social Safety Net (JPS) programs launched by the government to meet one of the people's basic needs in the form of rice. So that vulnerable members of the community can survive in the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

In addition, at the same time,  Minister of Social Affairs also expressed his hope that social assistance is expected to be able to stimulate the community's economy and help people, especially those living in 3T areas.

It should also be noted that the data for rice social assistance is KPM PKH data that has been verified by the Ministry of Social Affairs and is not new data.

The involvement of local governments is also very important to help social assistance programs can run smoothly. Local governments starting from the Regency / City are also taking part together with the Ministry of Social Affairs to reduce poverty in Indonesia.

Also attending were the Minister of Social Affairs, Head of the Marine Security Agency Laksya Aan Kurnia, Director General of the Management of the Poor Asep Sasa, and the Director of Heroism, Pioneering, Solidarity and Social Restoration.
