PEKANBARU (June 24, 2020) - "Rumbai" Center for Social Rehabilitation of Children in Need of Special Protection (BRSAMPK) in Pekanbaru distributed 333 food aid packages for children affected by COVID-19 worth Rp300.000 per package. This basic food aid package was given to 211 children spread over 17 Child Welfare Institutions (LKSA), 86 non-LKSA children as a result of data collection and assessment by Pekanbaru Social Worker Serve Unit (Sakti Peksos), and 36 children from community reports in Pekanbaru City and Siak Regency, Riau Province. One of the target criteria for the recipients of basic food assistance is that they have never received COVID assistance from any party and have personal documents.

The distribution was carried out simultaneously by 4 teams to 17 LKSAs spread across several sub-districts in the city of Pekanbaru and Siak Regency. The symbolic handing over of aid was carried out by the Head of the "Rumbai" Children Center, Ahmad Subarkah, at four points, namely LKSA Fajar Amanah, Siak Regency, LKSA Al-Akbar, LKSA Hikmah, and LKSA Al-Fajar Pekanbaru City.

"I hope that the assistance provided can be used by the children here to meet their nutritional needs, and the children can stay healthy and carry out daily activities, then the cooperation that we have established can continue to run well," said Ahmad Subarkah during a visit to LKSA. Trust. At the same time, assistance was also handed over to several LKSAs by the distribution team together with the Head of Sub-Division of Administration, Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section, and Head of the Section for Social Rehabilitation Services of the “Rumbai” BRSAMPK in Pekanbaru.

The purpose of distributing aid for handling the COVID-19 pandemic is to fulfill the basic needs of children who are directly or indirectly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Pekanbaru City. The source of funding from the assistance comes from the refocusing of the Center's budget in accordance with the Circular of the Director General of Social Rehabilitation Number 16/1/KS/02.04/2020.

All LKSA administrators thank the Ministry of Social Affairs for this basic food assistance because it is very useful in meeting the basic needs of children during the current pandemic. In addition, the management also hopes that this pandemic will end soon and children will be able to carry out activities as they should.
