PADANG (October 9, 2020) - In an effort to overcome and resolve the problems of children who need special protection (AMPK) which is increasing and complex during the current COVID-19 pandemic, this is happening considering that children only carry out online teaching and learning activities at home which makes a lot of negative behaviors appear by children such as stealing, promiscuity, using drugs, and so on.

For this condition, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Rumbai" Children's Center in Pekanbaru consisting of the Head of the Center and Staff visited and coordinated to 3 (three) regencies/cities in West Sumatra such as the Fifty Cities District Social Office, Tanah Datar District Social Office, and the Padang City Social Office.

The purpose of this coordination is to invite relevant stakeholders to increase their respective roles and functions in overcoming children's problems, especially support for families/Child Social Welfare Agencies (LKSA) in child care.

On this occasion, the Head of the "Rumbai" Children's Center, Ahmad Subarkah socialized the role and program of the "Rumbai" Children's Center in Pekanbaru as the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs in providing social rehabilitation for Children in Need of Special Protection (AMPK). Ahmad Subarkah also explained that in the future the role of each region is very much needed in providing services to AMPK based on assistance within the family, LKSA, and community following up on the Director General's directives related to the Social Rehabilitation Assistance program.

Ahmad Subarkah hopes that in handling children, all parties have the same responsibility, where each has a role to play after the completion of children's social rehabilitation. Such as the Department of Education related to the continuation of AMPK education, the Department of Population and Civil Registration related to the ease in managing children's identities, the Department of Manpower in channeling child labor into the world of work who have met the working age after obtaining basic skills in the field of work, and other services. If all relevant agencies support each other and cooperate in their roles, the number of child problems can be reduced because they are more focused.

The Head of the Padang City Social Office, Afriadi welcomed the arrival of "Rumbai" Children's Center Pekanbaru team. Afriadi revealed that the management of AMPK children in the city of Padang is currently trying to provide the best for children. "The Padang City Social Office is assisted by 4 Social Worker Service Units, both in outreach, case assistance, diversion, and we also have Lubuk Minturun LPKS as a temporary service place, and at this time we are also trying to build cooperation with other agencies involving the Department of Social Affairs. Education, Manpower Service, Population and Civil Registration Service, Ministry of Religion, Youth and Sports Service and other relevant agencies," he said.

In line with the expectations of the Mayor of Padang, in the near future we will visit "Rumbai" Children's Center Pekanbaru to explore further cooperation," he added.

Through this visit and coordination, good cooperation was established with stakeholders and in the future a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be prepared to establish an agreement between the two parties in improving child services.
