intended for three babies, namely KY, HR, and AL. An adoption is a form of
alternative care which is a long and fairly rigid process. Starting from

the Social Service, home visits, assessing the feasibility of social workers,
to the PIPA Team session, and later court decisions that all COTA must and are
currently going through.
Ahmad Subarkah, in his
opening reiterated the importance of obeying and following the adoption steps
as required in the laws and regulations. "Following up on these
regulations we have conducted a selection of requirements, a home visit, and a
case discussion of the COTA requirements and these ladies and gentlemen who
have been selected and have met the requirements according to Government
Regulation No.54 of 2007 on Implementing the Adoption of Children, Minister of
Social Affairs Regulation No.110 of 2009 on Requirements the Adoption of
Children, and Director General Regulation No.02 of 2012 on Technical Guidelines
for Adoption Procedures. "
The adoption process is continuing today at the Social Service of Riau Province. "We have
coordinated with the City and Provincial Social Services, the files are already
running, just waiting for the decree on the determination of temporary care for
6 months. Then later it will be continued with the PIPA team session to
determine permanent care in court," said Ahmad Subarkah.
This meeting was also
intended to double-check the required documents and to complete any
shortcomings in the documents that COTA still has to meet. Ahmad Subarkah added
that, "We want to avoid the abuse of the adoption process that is not following the rules. Apart from that, we also want to make sure our
children are in the right care. If it has been in temporary care for 6 months,
we hope COTA can provide regular reports to the center regarding the progress
of the CAA that has been submitted."
In addition to getting reinforcement from the Head of Social Rehabilitation Centers, the COTAs were also met with Foster Children Candidates (CAA), there was a look of happiness and joy on COTA's face. "Thank you, this meeting is very family-friendly. The Head of Social Rehabilitation Centers also clearly and politely explains the aim and purpose of the meeting. The reception of the other staff is very friendly. The happiest thing is that we can meet and carry the baby we are going to adopt directly," Irawati, one of the COTA, made an impression.
