Scavenger in Bantar Gebang Becomes One of Basic Food Distribution's Concern

The 'scavenger settlements' in the vicinity of the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) cannot be separated from the distribution of basic food assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs. Today (21/05), the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs, Grace Batubara, distributed an additional 700 packages of basic food to complement the basic food assistance from the President and the Provincial Government that had been distributed previously.

Apart from distributing basic food, Grace also had dialogues with local residents. Although the smell is very strong in the area, it does not dampen Grace's enthusiasm in providing assistance to the community, the majority of whom work as scavengers.
