BEKASI (January 10, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs together with the Social Welfare Institution (LKS) and Beneficiaries (PM) at "Pangudi Luhur" Training Center in Bekasi have confirmed their intention by planting Porang as a sign of their shared commitment to the social rehabilitation process.

The first stage of porang planting was 350 trees on an area of 0.5 hectares and the simulation was carried out by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat.

Porang is one of the plant commodities whose tubers have high economic value, this activity will benefit PM whose backgrounds are scavengers, beggars and homeless people who have lived in "Pangudi Luhur" Training Center in Bekasi.

"As of today, there are 28 Heads of Families (KK) living in the Center," said Harry. They have participated in various activities ranging from recycling organic waste which is converted into compost, then non-organic waste into products of economic value such as packing for merchandise, painting from banana stems and many other creativity.

In addition, there is also a catfish farm that will be given to PMs so that PMs carry out activities to feed catfish. They will be given their own responsibilities.

This catfish pond will also be used as a fishing ground for the public. The fishing result can be sold and cooked at the food stalls that will be opened around the "Pangudi Luhur" Training Center in Bekasi. "The plan is that the pecel lele (catfish) stall is now being prepared. Several food courts are also prepared next to the land for the Simple Flats for Rent (Rusunawa), which will be built in an area of 3000 m2, consisting of 5 floors and can accommodate 100 families," explained Harry.

In addition, there is also a laying hens farm. For example, for laying hens, each PM has planned to take care of 18 chickens, so every day there will be chicken eggs managed by each PM. The chicken eggs are immediately sold and marketed to Social Rehabilitation Centers owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the Greater Jakarta area and also to be marketed in several shops and stalls.

The management of porang plants, catfish farms, laying hens farms, handicrafts, organic waste and compost management will be additional income for PMs. In the not too distant future, they will have sufficient savings, so that when the construction of the Rusunawa has been completed in October or November 2021, the PM has turned into an independent family in the Rusunawa.

The rental fee for Rusunawa is planned to be managed as capital to create a cooperative for PM who lives in Rusunawa. "So the services provided are complete, including accessing various outside job opportunities, for example yesterday, the scavengers were delivered directly by the Minister of Social Affairs because they have been accepted to work at the Grand Kamala Lagoon. We can see that some potential is still there," said Harry.

Furthermore, the PM who is at the "Pangudi Luhur" Training Center in Bekasi next Wednesday (13/1) will be given access to the recording of population identities held at the Ministry of Social Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs. This access is to make it easier for PM to get social assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also presents Himbara, namely Bank Mandiri, to help open a savings account for PMs who already have an identity. While in the Center, the earning of PMs will be put into savings. "Himbara will prepare the dashboard," said Harry.

Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini overcomes social problems by prioritizing collaboration of Ministries/Institutions. If PM does not have an ID card, Risma writes to the Minister of Home Affairs, PM who does not have a Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS) Risma writes to the Minister of Health regarding the handling of Covid, Risma writes to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), for the construction of Rusunawa, Risma writes to the Minister of Work Public and Public Housing (PUPR) and PM's children who do not have a Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) Risma wrote to the Minister of Education and Culture.

"Everyone responded well and quickly. After 2 weeks as Minister of Social Affairs the results have been seen significantly. Therefore, we as implementers are very excited to follow up on strategic policies and even proven tactics in the field," explained Harry.

Harry added that the Ministry of Social Affairs studied success stories in Surabaya. Risma has succeeded in eradicating scavengers, street children and other social problems in order to have a better life. "This can be adapted well for national strategy," concluded Harry.

This activity was attended by the Head of Bekasi "Pangudi Luhur" Training Center, Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center Head, Bekasi "Tan Miyat" Disability Center Head and Head of Balarenik LKS, Swara Peduli, ERBE, Kumala and Bhakti Nurul Iman.
