Second Free Cataract Surgery, Ministry of Social Affairs Helps Jayapura Residents See Clearly Again
The residents of Jayapura and its surroundings can now smile with relief. The Ministry of Social Affairs is collaborating with several foundations and agencies to hold free cataract surgery for the second time in Papua.
A total of 100 residents underwent free cataract surgery from 13 to 15 December 2023 at Bhayangkara Jayapura Hospital.
Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, who directly observed the implementation of the operation, said that he would further evaluate whether this operation could be carried out again. Residents were very enthusiastic about welcoming this operation.
One of them is Haryantoro. This 61-year-old resident from Sentani has been waiting for a long time for free cataract surgery. His eyesight has decreased drastically since 2021, causing him to experience various difficulties.
