JAKARTA (March 21, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs collaborates with Surabaya Economic Heroes in training on Simple Financial Reports for new/micro-scale businesses run by beneficiaries at the ATENSI Creation Center owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.

Special Staff to the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Luhur Budijarso and Don Rozano as the Steering Committee at Heroes of the Economy Surabaya, and Doddi Madya Judianto, Financial Expert as presenters of the material on the Heroes of the Economy Webinar.

The ATENSI Creation Center is one of the contributions of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs to support the government's efforts to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic through the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN).

PEN is one of a series of activities to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, especially the informal sector or Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

This program aims to protect, maintain, and improve the economic capacity of business actors in running their businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The PEN program is expected to 'extend the breath' of MSMEs so that they can contribute to the Indonesian economy.

For your information, Heroes of the Economy is a community-based family economic empowerment program, which provides learning modules about the economy for MSMEs and/or just starting a business.

This webinar which discusses Simple Financial Statements for SMEs is a continuation of the previous meeting/topic. This lesson is intended for business actors who are already running and want to improve professionalism in their field of business, one of which is the beneficiaries who are currently starting their business at the ATENSI Creation Center (SKA) owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.

Luhur Budijarso, one of the panelists reviewed the previous meeting that there are 3 things that must be done in preparing financial reports. Firstly, taking the note all income, income or sales of the business in a disciplined manner. Secondly, using tools to record reports by books, computers or mobile applications.

"Thirdly, recording financial statements is important, because in the end we want to know the financial position of our business, so that in the future we know how to develop our business," said Luhur.

Luhur Budijarso also emphasized that many business decisions are actually influenced by honest financial reports, which are what they are.

Don Rozano stated that one of the important lessons in starting a business is to try to never go into debt until you have a clear market and product. Be careful in debt. “In economic heroes, we always teach that borrowing/debt is the last resort. First, we fix the product, we fix the market, when we add new capacity, we can take debt," said Don.

Doddi Madya Judanto, as a financial expert, emphasized that financial reports or financial records are simple, tailored to the needs and business journey.

"Recording and making financial reports is actually making a story about our business, we want to know where to start, what stage have we reached, whether it is according to our ideals at the beginning of our business or not, why the business can be successful, why the business stories can end well or not as expected, it's all because it's recorded," explained Doddi.

Discipline in recording Simple Financial Statements in the business is very important so that when starting a business, it remains in good shape, by recording any income received, recording the amount of capital and keeping evidence of transactions to make it easier to record business financial statements.

Then maintain business capital. Doddi explained that at the beginning of starting a business, the capital must be used, so that when income is received, make sure the business capital can be returned first. The first thing that must be set aside and recorded is the costs, then set aside for the return of business capital.

“We want to protect it, because this effort is not just a day or two, if it can take years. In fact, Social Minister Risma when encouraging SMEs said that this business can be passed on to our children and grandchildren," said Doddi.

This can be emulated by beneficiaries who already have businesses through the ATENSI Creation Center which has just been established in several Ministry of Social Affairs' Centers, namely the Pangudi Luhur Training Center in Bekasi and the Kartini Disability Center in Temanggung and will also be established in other Ministry of Social Affairs' Centers.

The Economic Heroes Program which is held every Saturday and Sunday through Live Streaming on social media Facebook and Zoom Meetings can encourage beneficiaries to start and manage businesses for better economic independence, especially in recording business financial reports, so that beneficiaries can find out the financial position of the business for the welfare of the beneficiary's life.

This webinar was attended by Heads of Centers, employees and beneficiaries of Social Rehabilitation Centers belonging to the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs who are already running a business or who will be preparing to open a business at the ATENSI Creation Center.
