Social Affairs Minister Risma Renovates Home for Elderly in Bangkalan
The expression of touched mixed with happiness was implied on Tipatma's face (64), her face was stunned for a moment, her eyelids began to fill with tears. The resident of Klapayan Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency, East Java, couldn't believe it, today her hut, which located in such remote area, was suddenly crowded with guests.
Among the guests, it turned out to be the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini. The event felt unimaginable for the elderly with 3 children and 1 grandson. Moreover, the Minister of Social Affairs came with various assistances.
"We'll fix the house, ma'am. Later, we will work together with the residents to fix it," said Social Minister Risma to Tipatma.
"Mator sakalangkong (thank you), Mrs. Minister," said Tipatma, stunned.
Social Affairs Minister Risma conveyed that after coming to Klapayan Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency, she saw firsthand Tipatma's 3x6 meter residence with gedek walls (bamboo room) and a ground floor.
In front of Tipatma, the Minister of Social Affairs asked the Head of the Margolaras Center, Pati Jiwaningsih, to immediately coordinate with the local village officials to calculate the need for the house renovation budget. As is known, Tipatma lives with 3 children and 1 disabled grandson in a gedek (bamboo room) and has a 3 x 6 meter ground floor.
Since the children were small, the house has not changed much, even a wood stove is still being used for cooking. Sleep was only on a mat and a simple bed made of bamboo. As a parent, Tipatma really loves her children no matter what the conditions are.
"I sincerely take care of them, from childhood to adulthood, I even take care of my grandchildren," she said.
