BATANGHARI (12th  June 2020) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Children's Center "Alyatama" in Jambi, has distributed social assistance (Bansos) for basic necessities in the context of handling the COVID-19 pandemic for neglected children.

This basic food social assistance is provided to children who are assisted by the Child Welfare Institution (LKSA). Previously, the children's basic food assistance had been distributed to 206 children in 5 LKSAs in Jambi City. Today, basic food social assistance is distributed to 2 LKSAs in Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province.

Total of 31 packages of basic necessities were handed over to the Tiara Bakti Disability Home and 34 packages were handed over to LKSA Hidayatut Thullab. The handover was carried out at the Batanghari Regency Social Service office. Sarah Kurniati and Reny Mella, Social Assistance distribution officers from the “Alyatama” Children's Center were received directly by the Head of the Batanghari Regency Social Service, Fauzan Azhari accompanied by the Head of Social Empowerment and Rehabilitation, and Social Worker Community Service for Batanghari Regency.

"Thank you for the assistance to all LKSA in Batanghari Regency, hopefully there will be more LKSAs receiving assistance like this," said Fauzan.

The head of the Social Service is symbolically handed over to the child receiving social assistance from the 2 LKSA. The children and the LKSA administrators seem happy.

"We are very grateful that we are still being cared for by the Central Government through this assistance," said Faizal as Head of the Tiara Bakti Disability Home.

Sarah hopes that the Social Assistance Package which consists of rice, eggs, milk, sausage, cereal and biscuits can help LKSA-assisted children and become a consolation for children and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
