MAJALENGKA (June 26, 2020) - Social pillars starting from District Social Welfare Worker (TKSK), Community Social Worker (PSM), and Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) work with the government in distributing Kemensos Hadir social assistance.

The Director General of Social Empowerment, Edi Suharto, symbolically handed over the social assistance package for basic necessities from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Head of Majalengka Regency Social Office, Gandana Purwana, on the lawn of the Majalengka Regency Social Office.

A total of 5000 social assistance packages for basic necessities from the Ministry of Social Affairs were distributed in several areas in Majalengka Regency. The basic food assistance will then be distributed to communities affected by COVID-19.

"The Social Assistance for basic necessities from the Ministry of Social Affairs is specifically for residents who have never received regular assistance programs, such as Family Hope Program (PKH) and Basic Food Program (BPNT)," explained Edi.

The Ministry of Social Affairs involves social pillars ranging from TKSK, Karang Taruna, Tagana, to PSM to help distribute social assistance.

Social pillars as the front line that interacts directly with the community. They have an important role in providing social welfare. They have done a lot of things, starting from helping with data collection, coordinating, to helping distribute social assistance to its recipients. Umar, a PSM in Majalengka Regency, revealed his motivation to become a PSM.

Fadhilah (32), TKSK Majalengka also directly distributed the Social Assistance for Basic Foods from the Ministry of Social Affairs Present to one of the beneficiaries. This shows the existence of TKSK's social duties in the community. Fadhilah directly delivered the basic food assistance to Ngartinah's father's family. He has a mother who has been sick for 4 years and is no longer able to do activities because she is old.

Abah Ngartinah's son is the backbone of the family, day-to-day as a pedicab driver. However, after this pandemic, he stopped pulling pedicab because there were no customers. Now he works as a cement porter to meet his daily needs.

"My daily income is uncertain. Sometimes I get Rp50.000, 25.000. Eating everyday is sometimes difficult. Thank God now I get social assistance from the government. Thank you Ministry of Social Affairs for the social assistance," said Abah Ngartinah.

Besides Abah Ngartinah, one of the dumplings sellers who usually hangs out on Jl. KH Abdul Halim Majalengka City, Asep Hidayat, expressed his gratitude for the assistance he received.

"I am a dumpling seller every day. But during corona I was selling erratically. With this assistance, it is very useful to meet the daily needs of our family," he said.

Also attending the event were the Head of the Social Empowerment Division of the Social Office, the Head of the Social Protection and Security Division of the Social Office, the Head of the TKSK and Karang Taruna Sub-Directorate, the Head of the Social Service Agency (LKS) Sub-Directorate, the Head of the Social Worker and PSM in PSPKKM Directorate of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
