JAKARTA (16 April 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) has just repatriate 51 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who are at the Bambu Apus Trauma Center Protection House (RPTC) Jakarta at 00.15 WIB and 07.00 WIB. This PMI was discharged after showed negative Covid-19 test result.
 
"In accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara, that the MoSA cooperates with cross-sectoral handling the arrival of PMI who were deported from Malaysia subject to health protocols in preventing the spread of COVID-19. One of them is the implementation of this Rapid Test which cooperate with Department of Health, "said Head of the Sub Directorate for Human Trafficking Dian Bulan Sari.
 
Today (04/16) PMI is delivered to Soekarno Hatta Airport by using a vehicle from the MoSA to continue the journey to their hometown. Phase I repatriation at 00.15 WIT to NTT for 1 PMI, Surabaya for 27 PMI and Lombok for 13 PMI. Phase II repatriation at 07.00 WIB to Surabaya for 11 PMI. Today's total repatriation is 51 PMI.
 
Dian said that during the trip, PMI must still comply with regulations. "During the trip must continue to wear masks and keep a distance," he said. Dian added that it was hoped that the PMI had no intention of returning to work abroad. If you really want to work abroad, you must follow official procedures from the government.
 
Dian also conveyed the mandate from the MoSA in the form of pocket money for travel. Each PMI received compensation of Rp. 250 thousand. "The MoSA provides provisions on the journey. Maybe they can buy souvenirs for parents or buy toys for their children, "said Dian.
 
Previously, PMI from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia arrived at the RPTC Bambu Apus on 9 April 2020 at 22.28 WIB. They were escorted from Soekarno Hatta Airport by using the Damri Bus, a transportation that had collaborated on PMI repatriation.
 
The Director General of Social Rehabilitation Harry Hikmat visited PMI as well as had a dialogue with them on April 10, 2020. Harry invited PMI to dialogue about their experiences while working in Malaysia and their experiences while in immigration detention. He also motivated PMI to undergo quarantine by following the rules in the RPTC Bambu Apus and gave reinforcement so that they would go through all the processes sincerely.
 
While at RPTC Bambu Apus, the PMI has undergone a rehabilitation process. The rehabilitation services are in the form of information advocacy on proper migration according to official government procedures, trauma healing and group therapy provided by social workers. In addition, the PMI also carried out gymnastics and sunbathing every morning, then given a socialization about Human Trafficking, victims of violence.
 
In addition, they also carried out the Covid-19 Rapid Test held by the MoSA on April 13, 2020. Based on the results of the Rapid Test, all PMIs are declared Covid-19 Negatives. The PMI were also given socialization to prevent Covid-19 Pandemic. Starting from wearing masks, maintaining personal hygiene and health, to directing the government to conduct physical distancing.
 
The MoSA also conducted counselling about the importance of maintaining endurance to prevent exposure of Covid-19. This can be done by exercising regularly, eating balanced nutritional foods and getting enough rest.
 
Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture's Regulation (Permenko PMK) No. 3 of 2016 concerning the Roadmap for Returning and Empowering Indonesian Workers, the PMI repatriation process is a collaboration between the MoSA and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), and also with Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
According to the Social Minister's Regulation No. 30 of 2017 concerning the return of Migrant Citizens of Victims of Human Trafficking from the State of Malaysia to their hometown, it is stated that the purpose of returning the Indonesian citizen is to return them to their hometown and reunite with their families, communities and social environment.
