SUBANG (10th June 2020) - The Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation has distributed assistance for handling the COVID-19 pandemic for neglected children from the 2020 refocusing budget. The assistance is intended for 5,818 children assisted by 477 Child Welfare Institutions (LKSA) in DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten. The determination of beneficiaries is based on the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

After the symbolic handover of assistance by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs at Center for Children in Need of Special Protection (BRSAMPK) Handayani Jakarta, Tuesday (6/9/2020), distribution was continued to designated areas.

Karawang Regency is the first location for distribution. In this area, the Team of the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Children, chaired by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Social Rehabilitation Children in Conflict with the Law (ABH), Meerada Saryati, distributed assistance to 289 assisted children from 23 LKSAs. The distribution of aid took place at LKSA Nurul Aitam Rengasdengklok, attended by the Head of the District Social Service. Karawang, The Head Division of Social Security and Protection , 20 LKSA and Social Worker Service Unit (Sakti Peksos) Karawang Regency.

The Head of Karawang Regency Social Service, Abdul Aziz expressed his gratitude for the attention of the central government to the regional government. "Karawang has 39 LKSAs but those registered in Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) on Social Welfare Information System New Generation (SIKS NG) are 23 LKSAs," explained Abdul.

The next location for distribution of aid is Purwakarta Regency at LKSA Khoerunnisa (Al-AZIZ Mosque). Distribution of aid was attended by the Head Division of Purwakarta Regency Social Service, 14 Head of LKSA and Sakti Peksos Purwakarta Regency.

"The total assistance we distributed was for 179 assisted children of 15 LKSAs in Purwakarta Regency," said Meerada. For LKSAs that have not received support from the Ministry of Social Affairs, they must enter LKSA data and children's data through the SIKS NG Integrated Data application as required.

Furthermore, for Subang Regency, which was the last location, assistance was distributed to 42 children assisted by 4 LKSAs located at LKSA Al-Rasyid Tanjungwangi Cijambe. The activity was attended by the Head of Subang Regency Social Service, 4 Heads of LKSA, Sakti Peksos Subang Regency and Supervisor of Sakti Peksos PV West Java.

The Head of the Subang Regency Social Service, Deden Hendrian, said that as many as 6 LKSAs from the data entered in SIKS NG but those who received assistance were 4 LKSAs. "Hopefully in the future the Ministry of Social Affairs can pay attention to all existing LKSAs," hoped Deden.

Meerada explained the details of assistance for handling the COVID-19 pandemic for neglected children in the form of packages tailored to the needs of children. The assistance package costs RP 300.000 per child, consisting of 5 kg of rice, 800 grams of milk, 1 jar of sausage, 330 grams of cereal, 1 packet of biscuits, 12 eggs and 2 additional boxes of soap per LKSA. Soap is a donation from PT. Unilever through UNICEF ​​Indonesia. This assistance is the government's concern for the existence of children so that the condition and welfare of the children remains a top priority in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Regarding the ABH social rehabilitation program, we urge all regencies / cities to pay attention to the availability of institutions for the special protection of ABH, this does not have to build new buildings but must be held in strict accordance with the ABH Protection Law," said Meerada.
