JAKARTA (January 24, 2020) – Minister Social Of Affairs Juliari P Batubara was the keynote speaker at the Socialization of Law No. 14 of 2019 on Social Workers held at the Aneka Bhakti Building of the Ministry of Social Affairs, January 24, 2020. In this event, Mensos also confirmed the DPP (Central Board of Directors) of the Alumni Association of the STKS - Poltekesos (High School of Social Welfare - Polytechnic Social Welfare).

Director General of Social Empowerment Pepen Nazaruddin who is also the alumni chairman of STKS – Poltekesos Bandung and the board of managers got a mandate from the Minister of Social Affairs to be able to continue raising the organization based on Pancasila as well as promoting the values of solidarity in order to participate in the struggle of social welfare implementation of social welfare in Indonesia.

"I am optimistic that breakthroughs, innovations and creativity from social workers and administrators and members of IKA STKS – Poltekesos Bandung, which are realized in various programs and productive activities, can synergize with various parties and play an active role in the implementation of social inequality" said Mensos in his speech.

Based on BPS (Central Statistics Agency) data on January 15, 2020 the poverty rate was at 9.22% as of September 2019 which was previously 9.41%, as of March 2019 which showed a decrease in the poverty rate.The role and efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs as well as the participation of various parties, especially social workers do not stop there, but there must be a program that can empower people to become superior human resources so that they can live independently and prosperously.

To be able to continue increasing the role of social workers in improving social welfare so as to lower poverty rates.On September 3, 2019 DPR RI (The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia) held a Plenary Meeting, one of which was to ratify the Bill on Social Workers into a Law on Social Workers.     

On October 1, 2019 the Bill was signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia into Law (UU) No.14, 2019 on Social Workers. This law must be known by all social worker practitioners including known by all college schools majoring in social welfare as a provision for improving the quality of participation in the implementation of social welfare.
