ALOR (April 15, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Kartini Disability Center in Temanggung dispatched a team of Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) to the location of the flash flood disaster in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. This is in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini that the Center must carry out services to completion, not only assistance but Psychosocial Support Services (LDP).

The Kartini Disability Center team succeeded in reaching two villages in Alor Regency, namely Toyg Village and Maliepea Village, Wednesday 15 April 2021.

The village is located in two sub-districts of Alor Selatan and Alor Tengah Utara, about 40 kilometers from the district capital. Previously, access to the area was completely cut off.

The team consisting of psychologists, social workers, nurses, social counselors, and structural officials went directly to the residents affected by the disaster. Arriving at the location the team immediately provided assistance to disaster victims.

"We are trying to restore the trauma of residents from the disaster that occurred some time ago," said the Head of the Kartini Disability Center Temanggung, Juena Sitepu.

Maliepea Village is one of the areas that was very badly affected by the brunt of flash floods and landslides. Seven residents were reported killed in the area.

"The community needs psychosocial assistance so they don't experience prolonged trauma due to this disaster," said Juena.

In addition to psychosocial services, it also conducts assessments using the Vertusse application for disaster victims to facilitate data collection for the Government of Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) who need ATENSI support.

Juena hopes that the Kartini Team can provide sympathy and empathy to increase the residents' enthusiasm so that they can do daily activities after the disaster.

"We hope they won't get too carried away by the conditions that are happening and will immediately look up for a better life ahead," said Juena.

In addition to psychosocial services, the LDP team at the Kartini Temanggung Disability Center provided health protocol education and distributed hundreds of masks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

"We also distributed personal hygiene materials and immune-boosting food," said Juena.

According to Juena, her party is distributing assistance in terms of anticipating the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Apparently, hundreds of disaster victims in the two villages had difficulty getting supplies of masks.

The LDP team at the Kartini Disability Center will be in the two villages until Friday, April 16, 2021.
