The Ministry of Social Affairs Provides Basic Food for Fishermen Affected by COVID-19
The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation conducts sweeping of residents affected by COVID-19 at two points in North Jakarta, Tuesday (12/5/2020). "Today, we continue the mission mandated by the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara so that residents who are affected by COVID-19, especially those who live in such a place where administratively, the population is not recorded according to their domicile, "said Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat at the second point of the visit.
One of them, said Harry, is the fishermen along Kaliadem, who generally come from Cirebon, Brebes and other areas to make a living along the coast of North Jakarta to the Thousand Islands and Pari Island which are usually taken every time they go to sea, "said Harry.
In this COVID-19 situation, the lives of fishermen have taken a turn for the worse, plus the price of catching fish in the market has fallen, for example a crab is usually sold for Rp. 60 thousand, to Rp. 20 thousand and that is almost a third of the normal price. "This condition occurs at the Fish Auction Place (TPI) in a quite sluggish state, as a result of COVID-19 and the market mechanism system does not work well between disrupted supply and demand," he said.
The Ministry of Social Affairs provides social safety net program assistance, in the form of social assistance in the form of basic food assistance from the President as well as social assistance for basic necessities from the DKI Provincial government or from the Mayor. The Ministry of Social Affairs also handed over medical equipment (medical equipment), in the form of hand sanitizers, masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), disinfectants (5 liters 2 gallons free of alcohol), and sprays.
