The Ministry of Social Affairs Provides Psychosocial Support Services for Child Victims of the Bima Flood Disaster
BIMA (April
4, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through
the Mataram Paramita Children's Center, provides Psychosocial Support Services
(LDP) to children affected by flash floods in Bima Regency. Upon arrival in
Bima, the Paramita Children's Hall Team coordinated with the Bima District
Social Service and was greeted by the Head of the Social Security Division,
Ismud.
LDP activities will be carried out in Bolo District, one of the severely
affected sub-districts in Bima Regency and is in urgent need of social
assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food. The Paramita Children's Hall team
brought several relief items including 10 ready-to-eat lunch boxes, each
containing 12 packs, 10 boxes of children's food, each containing 6 packages,
25 mattresses and 15-bed mattresses.
The team conducted LDP activities with 120 children around the disaster
relief post in the village of Sanolo, Bolo District. The Paramita Children's
Hall LDP team, which consists of 4 people, is accompanied by a Social Worker
who is a Child Companion in Bima Regency, Abd. Rahmat Hidayat quickly conducted
an LDP to unravel the anxiety in children that began to arise due to the flood
disaster 2 days ago. This area is severely affected by flooding. At least
3 districts are affected here, namely Monta, Woha, and Bolo," said
Hidayat.
Psychosocial support services provided by the quick response team are part
of the Children's Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI Anak). The form of
LDP given by the Team was in the form of Ice Breaking and formed a Recreational
Group. "The children were quite enthusiastic about participating in this
LDP, their enthusiasm was shown from the joy of participating in the games that
were given. Not only that, they seem to have forgotten the tragedy that
happened to them yesterday," said Edy Karyadi, one of the Ice Breaker
officers.
On that occasion, the LDP Team also provided relief items in the form of
children's food so that they became more cheerful after participating in the
activity. One package of groceries contains 3 pcs Marie milk biscuits, 3 pcs Malkist biscuits, 2 pcs coconut flavored biscuits. "Thank you brothers and
sisters from Paramita, Ministry of Social Affairs who care for us and invite us
to play and laugh, we are happy," said Putri, a child victim of the flood
disaster.
I Ketut Supena, as the Head of the Center said, "It is important to
carry out LDP activities so that the children grow cheerful and can quickly
forget what happened to them before. And not become a prolonged trauma."
Den Ardani, the Social Counselor of the Paramita Children's Center expressed his opinion that the relief items to be given to victims should be given to the disaster relief posts, so that the post team could distribute the relief items evenly to the target by the results of the assessment of community needs.
