The Ministry of Social Affairs Reaches Three Children who Live Alone
KARANG ASEM (April 15, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs, through the "Paramita" Children's Center, conducted a case
response to 3 children who were orphans who had to live alone after their
parents died a few years ago. They were Komang Desi 16 years old, Ketut Pait 13
years old, and I Wayan Dika 7 years old, lived alone in Banjar Muntigunung
Tengah, Tianyar Barat Village, Kubu District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.
Living on a hilly slope
far from the city, the team had to change transportation because only certain
vehicles could reach the children's location.
Following the instruction
of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, that Balai Besar / Balai /
Loka (Social Rehabilitation Centers) must respond quickly to the Persons who
Need Social Welfare Services (PPKS) found in the community, therefore the
Paramita Team was assigned to the field to reach out to the case. Accompanied
by the Head of Social Rehabilitation of the Karangasem Regency Social Service,
I Wayan Sukerena, the team chatted for a long time with the three children.
From Komang Desi's narrative that he did the work himself, starting from
cooking, carrying out household chores, and looking after the youngest who was
not yet in school.
Based on the results of
the (Subdistricts Social Workers) TKSK and (Social Worker Service Unit) Sakti
Peksos assessment, the three children need assessment results include: foster
parents' needs, bedding, kitchen utensils, school clothes, and daily clothes as
well as necessities.
Regarding assistance, they
have registered as participants in the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food
Assistance (BPNT), Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS), home improvement in 2011-2012
and the My Village is Waiting for Me program in 2018.
I Ketut Supena, Head of
the Paramita Children's Center said, "We are responding to the cases of
the three children to confirm their condition. We try to provide alternative
solutions as an intervention effort by the "Paramita" Children's Center
on the results of the needs assessment of the children. And the Team also met
with the cousins of the three children and from discussions with their
cousins that he already felt he had a responsibility to care for and
supervise them. This is important because they need a substitute figure for
their dead parents."
Furthermore, at the end
of the visit, the team provided aid from the Children's Social Rehabilitation
Assistance Services (ATENSI) program, including: 25 kg of rice, 3 boxes of
400gr Dancow milk, 3 Sabrina oils, 3 packs of Roma Kelapa biscuits, 1 bucket, 1
dozen cups, 1 thermos, 1 skillet, 1 spatula,
1 saucepan, half a dozen puffs, half a dozen plates, 1 dozen fritters, 1
cutting board.
